DAY 1: ARRIVE COONABARABRAN
Welcome to our Coonabarabran tour. Nestled in the foothills of the Warrumbungles, Coonabarabran is known as the astronomy capital of Australia with their crystal clear night skies. Upon arrival we check into our motel and freshen up for dinnerDAY 2: LOCAL TOURING
Our day starts with a look through the very interesting mega fauna museum followed by a town tour. Next visit is to Newcastle Hats, a local business that has manufactured stylish work hats and outdoor bush hats since 1988. Then we are off to Crystal Kingdom. It was here the first collection of minerals and fossils from one local area only were displayed. Tonight we enjoy an astronomy presentationDAY 3: WARRUMBUNGLES
Today we explore the Warrumbungles National Park and Siding Springs Observatory, home to one of the most advanced telescopes in the world. The Warrumbungle Mountain Range juts abruptly from the expanse of inland plains to form a range of mountains born of violent volcanic action estimated to be some 13 million years ago. A National Park guide will show us around.DAY 4: PILLIGA
Today we head to Pilliga Pottery for a talk and demonstration. The beautiful woodlands of the Pilliga surrounding the farm provide inspiration for the work done here, ranging from garden pottery to beautifully designed kitchenware and decorative pottery of every shape and size.
