One of the oldest and most popular tourist destinations in Australia is the World Heritage Listed Blue Mountains. Within an easy drive from Sydney, this is one of Australia’s most spectacular National Parks. The Blue Mountain Villages of Leura, with its beautiful gardens and Katoomba with its access to the famous rock formation, the Three Sisters, are just two of the many small communities in the Blue Mountains that provide easy access to some of the best natural attractions in the country.

The High Country of New South Wales is dominated by the Kosciusko National Park. From Cooma the villages of Jindabyne, Perisher and Thredbo are easily accessible. To the north west the Snowy Mountains Highway cuts a path through the mountains to Adaminaby, the famous caves at Yarraongailly onto the Blowering Dam at Talbingo. Finally at Tumut the country begins to flatten and the western slopes of the Snowy Mountains give way to fertile grazing lands around Gundagai on the Hume Highway.

Nestled on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River, the original inhabitants, the Wiradjuri, were the largest Aboriginal tribe in New South Wales. Wagga means crow and repeating it means crows, hence a place of many crows. The largest inland city in NSW, Wagga is the capital of the fertile Riverina agricultural area dedicated to wheat growing and dairying. This Riverina “loop tour” includes Junee, Temora, West Wyalong, Narrandera and Griffith.

Wollongong, south of Sydney, has a coastline that is famous worldwide. As we travel down the coast we enjoy two very different cruises -a Dolphin Watch Cruise in the Jarvis Bay Marine Park and a river cruise from Batemans Bay up the magnificent Clyde River. The area around Batemans Bay – known as the Eurobodalla Coast - is also very scenic. Mainly due to the influence of Canberra there is currently a great deal of development in the immediate environs of Batemans Bay, including Mossy Point and Batehaven.

Coonabarabran is located at the junction of the Newell and Oxley Highways, midway between Melbourne and Brisbane. The town is on the banks of the Castlereagh River and is nestled in the foothills of the Warrumbungles, one of the most accessible national parks in New South Wales. The Warrumbungle National Park has become known as the astronomy capital of Australia and is known as the first dark sky park in Australia, because the night sky is free of artificial light.
