AUSSIE HIGHLIGHTS

14 Day Tour

Tour Features & Highlights

DAY 1: ARRIVE MELBOURNE

Welcome to Australia! Once we pass through Customs and Immigration, we are ready to begin our holiday. Melbourne is consistently listed as one of the world's most liveable cities. The city centre is located at the top of Port Phillip Bay - a great natural seaport. Our local Coach Captain will transfer us straight to our hotel, our "home" for the next three nights.

DAY 2: EXPLORING MELBOURNE

After our travel days we can have a relaxing breakfast before we take a sightseeing tour of this grand city. Our first stop for the day is the spectacular Eureka Skydeck where we have awe inspiring views from the highest viewing platform in the Southern Hemisphere. Our lunch today is at one of Melbourne's waterfront restaurant followed by a flight on the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel.

DAY 3: GREAT OCEAN ROAD

Today we travel on one of the country's most spectacular coastal roads, the Great Ocean Road. We wind through the slopes of the Otway Ranges and Otway National Park. To the west of the Otway Ranges we join the "Shipwreck Coast", it's here we have the chance to see the Twelve Apostles - huge pillars which loom out of the surf, carved over time by the fury of the ocean, Loch Ard Gorge, the ill-fated London Bridge.

DAY 4: TO ALICE SPRINGS

We farewell the south today as we fly to Alice Springs. We head to ANZAC Hill for panoramic views of the town and the surrounding area. We also visit the Old Telegraph Station and the original Alice Springs. Tonight we are in for a treat at The Earth Sanctuary. We enjoy a mouth-watering bush BBQ with music and experience the spirit of the outback through stories of the Aboriginal Dreamtime. We will even learn how to cook a swagman's damper!

DAY 5: EXPLORING ALICE SPRINGS

This morning we take a virtual journey in 'The World's Largest Classroom' as we visit The School of the Air. We also visit the Royal Flying Doctor Base. This is one of the largest and most comprehensive aero-medical organisations in the world. This afternoon, we explore the majestic Western MacDonnell Ranges. We can take a walk into Standley Chasm. The chasm cuts through the tough quartzite to form a picturesque natural alleyway.

DAY 6: ALICE SPRINGS TO ULURU

We farewell Alice Springs this morning and begin our journey south. We turn west at Erldunda towards our destination - Uluru National Park. We'll spend some time at the Rock tomorrow, but this evening we drive to Sunset Strip - the colour of the Rock changes depending on the time of day and the weather but in the evening, at sunset, Uluru puts on a remarkable light show as it changes colour from red to orange to lilac in a matter of minutes.

DAY 7: ULURU NATIONAL PARK

Today we will spend exploring Uluru learning about the Aboriginal perceptions, its powerful spiritual significance and how Anangu traditional owners and ranges are looking after the Park together. We also visit the nearby Kata Tjuta or 'place of many heads'. Tonight we join the Sounds of Silence Dinner, a gourmet desert dinner under the stars. The sounds of a didgeridoo, a sumptuous outback fare - this is the best of the Red Centre.

DAY 8: TO CAIRNS

Today we fly to Cairns for our next adventure in Australia's Tropical Far North Queensland. The city of Cairns is considered to be the gateway to Australia's Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree. Overlooking Cairns Harbour and the lush mountain hinterland, the hotel is just moments from the city's best dining, shopping and touring departure points.

DAY 9: THE BARRIER REEF

No visit to Cairns would be complete without a cruise to the Great Barrier Reef - this is the largest and most complex expanse of living coral on earth, extending from Cape York in the north to the Tropic of Capricorn in the south. It is also one of the world's great natural wonders. We enjoy a day of snorkeling, ride on a semi-submersible, a fish feeding presentation as well as a delicious hot and cold buffet lunch. After our full day we return to Cairns.

DAY 10: KURANDA SCENIC RAILWAY & SKYRAIL

Following breakfast we join the Kuranda Scenic Railway, climbing more than 300 metres through the magnificent Barron Falls National Park. We disembark at the town of Kuranda.
