Day 3 |
Macarthur RegionThis morning we enjoy a tour of Campbelltown Arts Centre, Japanese Garden and Sculpture Garden. The Campbelltown Arts Centre is a brand new $10 million state-of-the art venue which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. The new building includes a sun-filled atrium, workshop space, galleries, retail outlet, Japanese Garden and Teahouse, outdoor sculpture garden, café and amphitheatre. Much more than ‘look and listen’ venue, the Centre is an interactive space delivering an annual program of arts workshops encompassing music, film, theatre, dance, literature, food and new media. The Centre also hosts a range of events, concerts, stage shows, festivals and performances. Next is a tour of Mount Annan Botanic Garden. Mount Annan is Australia’s largest botanic garden with more than 4000 species of native plants. The Garden covers 410 hectares and features five picnic areas with BBQs and shelters. Friendly and experienced guides will be available to show you the Garden’s highlights including Sundial Hill, the new Wollemi Pine Discovery Walk, Jamie Durie’s Room with a View sculpture and the Connections Water Garden. Enjoy lunch at Anticos Garden Café Restaurant then this afternoon make our way across to visit Belgenny Farm. John and Elizabeth Macarthur established convict-built Belgenny Farm on part of the original 5000 acres granted to the family by Lord Camden in 1805. The Macarthurs established Merino wool production, wheat growing, dairying, horticulture and grape growing. These enterprises became a model for Australia’s proud agricultural traditions. After a great day we head back to our motel for dinner |
