CAIRNS & THE TROPICAL NORTH

FAR NORTH QUEENSLAND

Nature bestowed a range of simply stunning natural attractions on Far North Queensland. The Great Barrier Reef, which gained World Heritage status in 1981, is the largest and most complex expanse of living coral on earth. It extends from north of Cape York to south of the Tropic of Capricorn. Day 3

Cairns

Following breakfast we continue our sight seeing with a visit to Hartley’s Crocodile Farm. Situated on the magnificent coastal drive between the popular destinations of Palm Cove and Port Douglas. Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures is the best place to see crocodiles and native wildlife in Tropical North Queensland. Set in the foothills of the MacAlister Range, in a World Heritage listed area, Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures is home to a range of habitat types including melaleuca wetlands, riverine rainforest and eucalypt woodland. Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures provides an innovative approach to viewing and interacting with wildlife, enabling visitors to become immersed in a natural environment with safety. A series of timber boardwalks provide elevated viewing of wildlife as visitors journey through a range of natural habitats. After our visit we head to nearby Palm Cove for a little free time before travelling back to Cairns and the motel. This evening we are off to the Cairns Night Zoo for dinner and a great night out! Tonight you get the opportunity to experience nocturnal wildlife in the tropics at Cairns' one and only Night Zoo. On arrival enjoy a delicious barbeque dinner of steak, sausages and seafood with fresh garden salads followed by a dessert. After dinner, the guides provide you with a torch and lead you into the darkness to meet the creatures of the night. Learn how owls hunt, touch a possum and pat a koala. Follow the guides as they lead you safely through the crocodiles' lair. See the croc eyes glow in your torchlight. In the Aussie bush, there's always a chance you will cross paths with a "Swaggie" (an original Australian bushman). Join our hospitable Swaggie and enjoy billy tea and damper with him by the campfire. His friends, the kangaroos, will come down to say G'day and maybe even share a bite to eat! After complimentary cold beer or wine, join in the fun as the guides teach you some famous Aussie Bush Dances. Dance and sing along - it's more fun than you can imagine!
